thinking back

we have now been waiting for our immigration approval for 4 months. still no word on when it might be coming so we continue our attempts to be patient. apparently, i [rande] am not getting much better at it yet. casey, on the other hand, seems completely unfazed. he of course whips off, "God has a plan and is putting everything together perfectly. just be patient." it sometimes bugs me that he is so calm and rational all the time. yet again proving God has a plan and puts everything together perfectly. we are a good balance for each other.

so while we wait i have been reading through my journal from my trip to Ethiopia. there are some things that i will never forget - like julie and i playing soccer with some kids in front of our house. we of course couldn't speak Amharic but that didn't stop us from jumping in. other things had slipped my mind but came right back after reading them. but the fun thing from this week was that it donned on me that i had written casey notes before leaving that might be fun to go back to. there is one in-particular that means a lot now.

"I will need a few extra prayers today. We are visiting an AIDS Orphanage and Leprosy Hospital today. I have a feeling that I will want to bring 5 or 10 kids home with me. It pains me to think of all the mothers here that die from AIDS, leaving their children without a family and with a horrible disease. I am grateful for a sensitive heart, but this may be overwhelming."

God was already planting the seeds of adoption before i ever left for Ethiopia. isn't that incredible!!!!!
