although it is not the news we were hoping to hear we did get an update. there are a lot of things going on in Ethiopia right now. Ethiopia and a lot of African countries are facing a famine right now. Ethiopia was not able to produce much of a crop in 2008 and it looks to be worse for 2009. the children that our coming to the orphanages our agency runs are so malnourished that they are having to have special formula sent from the states. it is hard to fathom living like we do that their are children on the other side of the word struggling just to stay alive. be in prayer for these little fighters and the special people that are caring for them until families can come get them. i have contacted our agency to see what we can start doing to help and will keep you posted when that is available.
how this affects us:
although their are more children coming in because of the famine the government has not set a precedent for what legally happens to the abandoned children that are coming in. so until the government can make that decision those children abandoned at the doorsteps of orphanages can no longer be adopted out. that accounts for 25% of the children coming in. although they have not changed our wait time from the original 9-11 months yet it is most likely only a matter of time.
so we continue to wait for God to introduce us to David.
