- meeting a young muslim woman/girl [17 years old] on here way to visit her family in pakistan. she was so excited about our journey of adoption. she wanted to skip visiting her family and come with us to meet david. julie and i spent some time talking with her about school and family and even got to ask her a few questions about her beliefs. the one statement that was funny and yet incredibly sad at the same time was her response to jesus, "he's just like your jesus only not God's son." in my head i was screaming - "THAT's THE KEY POINT."
- the airport in dubai was amazing. it felt like a shopping mall. gorgeous is all i can say.
- we all three got to say in one room in dubai for the forced lay over. there were two beds but neither was much bigger than a twin. casey and i who are not cuddly people got to be very close all evening. we survived!
- casey made a new friend on our way to the hotel. he was sitting by a woman about three rows ahead of julie and i just talking away. i love to hear him tell our adoption story [luckily his voice carries and i could hear him quite well].
- unpacking all of our things. we are finally here and ready to get david. his clothes have been laid out, bottles and food put in the kitchen, and toys are waiting in our living room.

we made it
we have arrived in ethiopia without any problems. it was a long two days of traveling so i [rande] am just waking up from a three hour nap and the other two are still sleeping. we are staying in a cute little "apartment". we have a small kitchen, sitting area and two separate rooms both with bathrooms and even a small balcony. really no news but i will share some of my highlights from our travels thus far.

It is amazing to be able to follow your adoption journey from halfway across the world! God is doing amazing things through you guys. We cannot wait to meet your little guy!
Loved hearing your travel stories. Can't wait to hear of when you finally get to go get that sweet boy!
I'm so glad you guys made it safely. I've always heard that Dubai is very beautiful, and I was intrigued to see that that was your layover.
I hope it goes well tomorrow meeting David's bio mom. I absolutely cannot wait to see pictures of you guys meeting David.
Thank you so much for updating us.
