butler family adventures: big boy bed

yep, we decided to try out a big boy bed for david. david was quite the helper yesterday as we took his crib apart to turn it into his toddler bed. he had great fun holding the screws for mommy. i had to keep a close eye on the tools because he really wanted to use them. he may enjoy working with his hands later in life like most of the men in the butler family.

i decided we would do it for nap time first that way we could change it back for bed time if it went horrible. much to my surprise he didn't try to get out a single time. when he did finally wake up he still wouldn't get out of his bed. i had to go get him - i'm sure that will change shortly. then the real challenge came - bed time. although he asked a number of times if he could get up he never actually got out of the bed. i was very pleased!

all went well until this morning. i got up at 6 am to walk the dog and spend some quite time with God, thinking david would get up around 7 am like normal. nope! according to casey he got up around 6:30 and wandered around the house yelling for us. david found casey in bed and was quite pleased just to curl up beside daddy for a little bit.

we didn't know if we wanted to shut david in his room each night or leave the doors open, both have advantages. casey may be voting to shut him in now!
