we are here

we were very excited to receive our I-797C Notice of Action in the mail this week. Sadly the appointment date they gave us doesn't work since casey will be gone. so we will have to reschedule for some time in mid-September. that does mean we are nearing the end of paperwork so we are still very excited.

i [rande] feel like we should share a little bit about were we are spiritually right now. we know that a lot of you have been praying for us and this process of bringing baby david home so we don't want to hold anything back from you.

we'll start with casey: last wednesday he met with a group of men and women from our church who will be traveling to the appalachia mountains in kentucky. this will casey's first mission trip! he felt God wrestling and making him uncomfortable a few sundays ago and knew by the end of the sermon that he needed to go on this trip. for those of you who don't know casey - he doesn't just do things on a whim. he is very logical and thinks through everything before making any commitment. so for him to jump in with really no details is huge.

and rande: i have found myself hungry for God yet still trying to do everything on my own. i met with one of our ministers a few weeks ago because i was frustrated. i couldn't understand why i was struggling remembering anything from them bible. i could fumble through a few things but i longed and still long to understand "it" [the good news of Jesus]. here is what he said, "well, you need to read it." in my head i thought, "thank you for that piece of wisdom. i hadn't thought of that." i have had a few weeks to mull over his words and what i have realized is that although i had been reading God's Word i had somehow missed leaning on God to help me understand who He is and what He is about.

so, our prayer requests:
1. that God would continue to make us uncomfortable.
2. that we would learn to lean on our holy Father. that he would consume us.
