one week

i can't believe we have been home one week already. david has really started to come to life the last few days. he loves to make faces and funny noises. just this morning he learned he could raise his eyebrow which made us both laugh. he is trying to learn how to whistle like dad but only seems to blow out air. did i mention he is incredibly stubborn? naps are a battle no matter how tired he is and for the first few days when he didn't get what he wanted he would either hit or bite me. i am happy to say that he has learned that isn't the best way to handle his frustration with mommy. he still won't go but a few feet away from my feet but the need to be held is becoming less and less each day.

my favorite moments of our first week:
1. learning that if i stay beside his crib with one hand on his chest and praying over him before nap time he doesn't feel the need to scream bloody murder. i always wonder what he is thinking as i pray? he listens very intently as i speak to our father.
2. the way he says, "woof, woof" and looks for our dog ty every time he wakes up.
3. how he likes to "help" mom. he is kind enough to carry his dirty diapers to the trash can when we are all done. he likes to help me carry laundry to the appropriate rooms and he loooves opening and shutting doors for us.
4. watching him play with casey. partly because of how cute our sons laugh is but mostly to see my incredible husband go all out to get him to laugh.

now to the good stuff - pictures:

following dad out to the farm truck

mooing at the cows

getting ready to walk the dog - notice the leash in his hand. i love this backpack by the way - great investment for as active as we are.

deciding on his hat

so sweet!

David is soooo cute. What a smile. I am so glad you all are doing so well. David sounds like so much fun. Hopefully the nap stuff will work itself out with time. Our daughter we adopted from Russia had crazy sleep patterns for the first few months but now has no problems. Thanks for sharing about your week. Blessings, Sydney
