this is a question i have learned to value as a stay at home mom. not only that i can ask it but that most of the time i can meet the request. although we tend to keep a full schedule it is almost always flexible. now the typical answers david gives to this question are - "the park", "to see the cows", or just "outside". occasionally we get - "papa/nana's or grandpa/grandpa/grandma's" [that name is a story in itself]. but these are none of the answers i got two days ago. after a moment of pondering, david's sweet little voice said, "opia!" i wasn't sure i had heard him correctly so i stopped what i was doing to ask him again. this time we were face to face and those precious eyes looked into mine as he said, "opia!" yet again. my heart melted!
oh, i tried to explain why we couldn't just jump on a plane and head to ethiopia but my precious two year old couldn't understand. i had to leave him with some day we will all go back to ethiopia but even that didn't give me much ease. a part of our hearts will always be in ethiopia and we long to go back soon.
